Traveling Thoughts

For about 5 weeks I was volunteering in Ioannina. A city in the north of Greece. The majority of my time there would be spent in the lively and happy Community Center, or as we learned to call it, the CC. The center is run by Be Aware And Share , an independent non-profit organisation supporting people in need. Promoting cross-cultural relationships and contributing to social inclusion. Here I very quickly felt connected with all those involved. The staff of the NGO, the other volunteers who included ones like myself traveling abroad as well as volunteers from the community, and all the participants who came to the center. Having been my second time volunteering at a center with similar goals, it was a great opportunity to learn, compare and share ideas and practices between the two. Por cerca de 5 semanas, trabalhei como voluntário em Ioannina, uma cidade no norte da Grécia. A maior parte do meu meu passei no alegre Centro Comunitário, ou como aprendemos a chamá-lo, o CC. O centro é administrado pela Be Aware And Share , uma organização independente que apoia pessoas, promovendo relacionamentos interculturais e contribuindo para a inclusão social. Lá, rapidamente me senti conectado com todos os envolvidos: a equipe da ONG, os outros voluntários, incluindo alguns como eu de outros países, e voluntários da comunidade, e todos os participantes que vinham ao centro. Sendo minha segunda vez como voluntário em um centro com objetivos semelhantes, foi uma ótima oportunidade para aprender, comparar e compartilhar ideias e práticas entre os dois. Havia muito mais coisas em comum do que diferentes. Cheguei à conclusão de que, no final, a maneira como você faz as coisas é menos importante e o que importa são seus valores fundamentais.
